The Nova Scotia Department of Health and Wellness has the mandate to decide what services it believes are medically necessary for the people of Nova Scotia. These insured services are covered under contract if you bring your health card with you.
There are various services that are requested by patients and third parties that are not deemed medically necessary and therefore will be directly billed to the patient or in some cases the requesting third party. These are non-insured services.
Below are examples of the most common requested services. The cost of service will be agreed on and paid for before the service is provided.
